About

Being a horror movie fanatic in the 1980's was both exciting and frustrating. The new home video market had people hungry for material. Older genre films from preceding decades would find new audiences on home video. Some enterprising directors would skip theaters and even film entirely, shooting movies (especially horror) directly on video. Some Shot on Video movies fared better than others.

We had magazines like Fangoria, Gorezone, and Famous Monsters of Filmland to guide our way but actually FINDING the movies to watch was challenging. When a new movie was out we would start the hunt for the video with the fervor of Indiana Jones searching for the Ark of the Covenant. Bike rides across town later turned into car trips into the city to satiate our desire.

So why Vintage Grindhouse? To indulge my nostalgia for the movies and magazines that shaped my misspent youth. You're still reading this so I'm betting you're feeling a bit of that as well, right? Well I'd like to think you've come to the right place.
